You were the first tech / programming creator I watched and you inspired me to level up my game and really be invested in programming as a skill / technique - but also find the fun. All seem a very natural progression to me (including the glasses, I finally needed those after 40 years of staring at screens...). Enjoying programming and projects is good. Enjoying your family is great. Perhaps one day you'll find a balance that will let you be excited about both, but my personal advice at this stage is definitely focus on your family.

i'm a grandpa now and yeah you definitely are supposed to be scared. and youre also definitely supposed to reprioritize everything. wife first, child next, family is now more important, friends less so. and your work and hobby will have to take a hit for now. you'll get back to those when your kid (s??) near middle school. as you have more time for yourself, work will GET more interesting. Same with your hobby. (Hopefully your hobby improves first - that hsould be your priority as you'll already have found a "Dad Job" - one where you work a max of 40 hours/week with little stress as there's little work.). As your hobby improves (PROGRAMMING, RIGHT?), you'll find yourself wasting time with it as you do at work. Stop that. Find a real job again that forces you to react quickly, do USEFUL stuff, and make tough decisions about scope. Once that starts, you'll have more oomph to power through some SOLID hobby programming progress. And you'll get higher pay from that more demanding job. And you'll be able to buy your kid a house. Cuz lord knows that's the only way kids can get houses these days. Good luck to ya :) It's a wild ride and a hell of a lotta fun. Programming will come back when you're ready. And by then, hopefully linux has stomped windows into the ground. And macos too.

when I want to buy something I do a search for it. Until then I don't need ads shoved in my face for something I googled 2 months ago. Faulty logic that getting "eyes on ads" results in sales/revenue. How about this for every ad I watch I get a $1, paid by the company making the ad. I'm sure the number of useless ads drop very quickly. PS drop the premium price to under $5 a month and almost no-one will bother with ad blockers.

There is no man page for parenthood. All the best, don't ever feel you have to post videos if it in any way interferes with your family commitments.

You'll definitely have a much harder time to find time for a project, but as you get the hang of fatherhood, you'll innovate. Anyways, there will be more ideas to come that will spur your interest back in programming, and some of it will come in part by thinking about how you'll teach the kid how to do stuff, and also how to coordinate with your wife. I, for one, would be interested in seeing practical life problems being solved with programming as they become more relevant. I remember having rearrange the bookshelves in one of my bedrooms and quickly drafting up a modeling application in HTML canvas to try out various layouts of the furniture while also being able to practically navigate the room. It was a fun project! Making fun games for the kids when they get older is also great!
